Learners' diaries.

Today, while I was  studying for ECO I Assessment , I realized how difficult is for students to keep a learner  diary where to register what they've learned.  According to Baxter, a learner diary may consist on pages at the back part of the file, I mean, it's easy to create. When reading that, I thought I could do it more appealing for students if we create a diary online.  It would imply an awareness raising process  because they need to reflect about what they think they have learned, but it would be easy, I thought , because they are digital natives. They are familiarized with technology.
Then,  I remembered how difficult it was for me to start writing in this blog. In addition, I am a digital immigrant. But the real difficulty was to sit down and reflect upon the learning process, not the tool I would use to write my reflections.
So...It doesn't matter if the learner diary is a white sheet of paper or an online site with a  colorful layout. What really matters is the content. Something that I'm still reflecting upon.

  1. I believe that as teachers we should guide the refelecting process that our students are undergoing.

How we could do this? In this particular case that you mention self-assessment we can ask them open questions about their learning experience.

For example, do you prefer to work individually or in small groups? Why?

Each student will answer the question and then they can start a debate. This could be perfectly done in blogs like this.

Hope you find my idea useful =)
